The word karate simply translated means "empty-hand". When properly trained, a traditional Japanese weapon in the hands of this skilled practitioner the weapon becomes an extension of their body. The traditional Japanese weapons that we teach are: the Bo, Sai, Tonfa, and nunchaku. We teach the Kobudo style of weapon use, originating in Okinawa.

Just as there are many different styles of karate, there are quite a few styles of Kobudo (Weapons). Here at Peaceful Warrior, we practice Kobudo based on standards set in Japan by our Tenshinkan style. Below are the weapons used in our Kobudo Syllabus
During our Japanese weapons classes, you'll learn:
Bo staff - a wooden staff that one thrusts, swings and strikes with
Sai - a sharp, prong-shaped melee weapon used in Okinawa
Tonfa - a stick-like striking weapon often used in a pair
Nunchaku - a weapon made from two sticks connected by a rope or chain
